How to look “Attractive”

Everyone has those days when you wake up feeling, you know, blah. Luckily, there are some little tricks you can use to instantly give your confidence a boost and make yourself appear more attractive to others in the process. Whether it’s highlighting one side of your face or switching up the way you walk, looking good has never been so easy. Here’s how to nail the transformation process.

1. Wear red

Who knew color could make such a big difference in your level of attractiveness? A 2010 study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology found women loved it when men wore red—and, the same went for women. In a separate study  from Rochester University, men were more attractive to women in red as well. It’s not just clothes, either: another study found red lipstick had the same effect

2. Showoff your hips

Don’t try and hide your hips—flaunt them. Wear pants that show off your figure and feel free to sway a little when you walk: One studies from Texas A&M University found the attractiveness of women went up a whopping 50 percent when they strutted with a hip sway. Just like Shakira always says: hips don’t lie.

3. Make yourself look taller

Research has shown women prefer taller men over the short guys of the world, but just because you can’t change your height doesn’t mean you can’t physically make yourself look like you grew a few inches. Experts say sticking to monochromatic color palettes—otherwise known as colors that are the same shade—will make you appear taller. Plus, it looks super classy: You can’t go wrong with an all-black look.

4. Highlight the left side of your face

You might not notice one side of your face being more attractive than the other, but a study  published in the journal Experimental Brain Research found people preferred the left side of over the right. Whether you’re taking pictures or chatting with someone, turn your head slightly to the right to showcase your left and you’ll instantly look a little better.

5. Travel in group

If you’ve ever watched How I Met Your Mother, the cheerleader effect is actually super legit. (Well done, Barney.) A 2014 study found people typically look much more attractive when they’re in groups than they do on their own. So grab your friends and hit up your favorite hot-spots in packs.

6. Wear deodorant

Wear deodorant. Find a scent and strength that works for you, and put it on first thing after you get out of the shower. If you find that you get sweaty or smelly during the day, carry deodorant in your backpack or briefcase and reapply.[1]

  • If you forget to put on deodorant before you leave the house, find some hand sanitizer and wipe it on your armpits — it’ll kill the bacteria that produce body odor. You might have to reapply a few times during the day.
  • Unscented deodorant reduces the possibility of you making people allergic

7. Shower daily

Shower daily. Wash your hair thoroughly, and use a body wash or soap that has a fresh and clean scent, or none.

  • If you usually take a shower in the morning, consider getting a fogless mirror for your shower so you can wash your face and shave while you’re in there.

8. Wash your face twice

Wash your face every morning and night. Avoid pimples and outbreaks by taking care to keep your face clean.

  • Find products that are appropriate for your skin type. Here are the most common kinds:
    • Sensitive/dry skin: If your skin tends to be flaky and dry, or gets red and irritated easily, use an extremely gentle cleanser. Skip toner, and use a light moisturizer.
    • Combination/T-zone skin: If your forehead, nose, and chin (or “T-zone”) tend to be oily but your cheeks are dry, you have “combination” skin. Most people have this skin type, so look for a cleanser that’s marketed for normal or combination skin. Use a gentle toner on your T-zone, and finish up with a moisturizer.
    • Oily skin: If your skin tends to be uniformly oily, find a clay-based or drying cleanser. Use a gentle toner everywhere on your face, and finish with a light moisturizer. If your skin feels oily during the day, pick up some face-blotting tissues from the skin-care section of the drugstore and pat them on your skin in the afternoon.
  • If you have acne, use a salicylic acid face wash and put benzoyl peroxide cream on pimples. If this doesn’t help, see a dermatologist.

9. Put Your Hair into a High Ponytail
There may be no better hairstyle to make you look attractive when you’re in a rush than a high ponytail. Not only are they one of the easiest hairstyles to do, they make you look younger, giving your face a mini facelift. They’re incredibly chic without you having to try, and it’s a look that will never go out of style. If you have a bit more time, add curls to your high ponytail with a curling wand for a more stylized and elegant look.

10. Throw on a Pair of Sunglasses
Running out the door in a rush? Make sure to bring your sunglasses with you. Sunglasses make you look attractive because they make your face look more symmetrical. They add a sense of mystery to your face and they’ve always been known to make people look cool. Find a pair that really flatters your face shape to boost your attractiveness as you’re walking around the city.

11. Find Glasses That Work for Your Face Shape
If you’re wondering how to look attractive with glasses, it’s important to find glasses that work for and fit your face shape. Having face symmetry is considered attractive, so choose frames that create proportion between the left and right side of your face, as well as the top and bottom. Choose a colour that works with your skin tone and determine which thickness of the frames works best for your features.

12. Wear Clothing That Fits
The clothing you wear can make a huge difference to your overall attractiveness. Trends come and go, but you should always dress for your body type. Don’t wear clothes that are too big or too small, and when you find shapes that work for your body, buy them over and over again! Wear clothing that accentuates your favourite features and fits your body perfectly! Don’t forget, you can always get pieces tailored to fit you right.

More volume makes your hair look thicker and more lush. Thick hair is associated with health and vitality, which is seen as more attractive. If your hair has been thinning with age or is naturally thin, using products to thicken it can boost your overall look. Dry shampoo is a great way to absorb heavy oils and create an illusion of fullness.
